It all begins again, again

So, it seems I am a uni student again. Today I received a letter from Macquarie university with information about the unit I am enrolled in via correspondence in the coming study period.

If anyone is aware of my history with university, it has not usually ended well. I had a lot of HECS/HELP debts with very little to show for it. Two science degrees, an education degree and a business degree were all started, and none were completed. Just to shake things up I have embarked on an arts degree. I am aiming to major in history, and with that hopefully complete whatever post graduate program is in place in the future to do secondary teaching.

The conclusion that this was the path took an awful lot of consideration, just ask my wife who had to listen to it all. In essence, it came down to interest and what I've enjoyed in the past. I enjoyed doing the education degree, but I felt I was far too young at the time. Add in a bunch of personal stuff, and it was never going to happen back then. But while doing that, I did a couple of history units and really enjoyed them. Also taking into account that all I ever talk about is politics and history, the more social sciences seemed the obvious way to go.

Additionally, one of the best jobs I've had was training people at my old work. I considered further pursuing this path, but decided in the end that my long term goal had to lie completely outside of my current occupation.

There were many twists and turns on the way here, but eventually I got to this point. I would like to thank my wonderful wife at this point for all of her encouragement in this so far, and hopefully I'll have the desire and dedication to get through it all.

Only time will tell.

2011

Wow, so, 2011 was quite the year for me. A year of all kinds of change and transformation.I feel like a much different person at the start of this year to what I did at the start of last. Firstly, anyone who knew me at the start of last year knew I was over everything. I didn't want a relationship and had mentally doomed myself to being alone forever. I was sad and lonely and I think maybe depressed too. I hated my job and was having anxiety issues. I was overweight, and looking back I don't know if I would have made it through many more years, the size I was. So, what changed. Put simply, everything. At the start of this year I find myself 11 months into a fantastic relationship with someone that I truly hope to spend the rest of my life with. I am fitter and healthier, I weigh 30 kg less than I did, and I am able to keep up with both a 21 year old girlfriend, and her 2 year old daughter. This makes me feel ridiculously happy. I also chucked in the job I hated and got my...

Are these guys named after the union breaking guys, or is it the Australian edition of the same company?
